Blogging While Brown Set for July 25-27, 2008 in Atlanta, GA

Mark your calendars down. We got the hotel and the venue. The conference will begin with registration and some nightim social event TBD on Friday. Seminars, Panels, Workshops, etc. all day Saturday and a morning -- going away event of some sort. Again, the venue and locations have been obtained. What we fill them up with is up to us.

Karsh is working on the homepage and I am working on the conference registration page and then the committee(s) can start figuring out what content we want the conference to feature.

The revolution will not be televised, it will be blogged.

FYI, there are two other conferences going on at the same time in the same venue that should interest some of y'all. One is a huge arts festival and the other is the National Medical Association so you should have plenty of folks to kick it with that weekend.

This could be a beautiful thing. I'll definitely be there and in fact wouldn't mind helping with some of the arrangements. Email me at marcgarvey@gmail.com to let me know what I can do to help prepare. I live in Atlanta.

I think this is a wonderful idea! I wish I could attend but my physical condition won't allow me to at this time, but is there any chance some things might be podcast or some other online venue so that those of us who can't attend can participate? And what about something to put on our own sites to advertise the convention? Thats' something I wouldn't mind doing tho I don't get much traffic, lol. Please, let us know of anything we can do to help even tho we can't attend.

Are you aware that there is another major journalist conference days prior to this conference?

I think Blogging While Brown is a great idea, and wonder if you would consider changing the date so that more traditional journalists who are also bloggers would be able to attend.

The conference that I'm referring to is the 2008 UNITY: Journalists of Color Convention in Chicago.

Around Harlem we were not, but the dates are set. People have already started paying registration and we haggled over the dates for almost three months. If you go back in the posts, you will see that the dates correspond with the final weekend of the National Black Arts festival so people will have plenty to do and see.
